The first bitch I bred..a BEAR daughter would eat NOTHING but
watermelon the last two weeks she was pg...ALL of my kids here
love ALL veggies and will steal the tomatoes too...they love the
broccli stalks...I give baby pups baby carrots to teeth on..they are
hard and cold..needless to say carrots them become part of their
diets..they all eat my salad when I am full...
BTW the BEAR daughter delivered 8 VERY healthy pups and didn't
touch dog food the last two weeks!

My pregnant bitch never ceases to amaze me! She has two weeks to go until
whelping day and last week she just stopped eating. Would not touch her
food at all. I was getting very concerned. At the same time, I kept
missing tomatoes. I would buy them, put them on top of the butcher block
table but when I went to make a salad, they weren't there. I thought my
mind was playing tricks on me (It's rough getting old) and that, maybe, I
really didn't put the tomatoes there but left them at the store or left them
in the car. This happened twice. The third time my grandson gave me two
tomatoes from his garden. I brought them home and carefully put them on the
table all the while telling myself that, yes, I am actually placing these on
the table. I left the kitchen and returned in about 20 minutes. The
tomatoes were gone and there she was lying on the floor with about a quarter
of a tomato left between her front feet! I have never seen a dog eat
tomatoes. Are they safe or are they one of those foods like grapes or
chocolate that dogs aren't supposed to eat. Does anyone know?
She also was eating the Macintosh apples under the tree. I thought the
squirrels were leaving bites in them but yesterday I saw her help herself to
the bag of apples I had just picked. No wonder she wasn't eating the food
in her dish! The third thing she is craving is watermelon. I don't know
what all these cravings are about. She's never been like this in previous
pregnancies.
I just wanted to share this new experience and see if anyone else has had
similar experiences.
