Probably a Screech Owl I agree. Barn Owls do not 'hoot' but will scream, hiss, 
deet deet. Barn owls are not so big, like mice, voles, small bunnies, possums. 
No barn owls in NE Ohio....they like large expanse of fields, so Southern OHio 
probably has them. Also, they would not like to live near the Barred Owl...lots 
in NE Ohio...who would kill them. Crows will eat the baby owls. They hate each 
other.

If you would like to have barn owls, you can put up a barn owl box. Watch the 
many barn owls on UStream. Most have eggs that will hatch soon. Best one is 
Sydney and Mel in HD at
