YES we firmly believe that finicky eaters can have a genetic link. Usually it is owners just escalating asking , begging or spoiling their dogs to get them to eat. Like a child, after awhile nothing is good enough for them. However vigor in eating , is also indicative of overall vigor, libido, work ethic. It is yet another reason that we concentrate on keeping these qualities. It is another reason we incorporate, occasionally German lines . I have NEVER seen a German dog that was a picky eater.
