We at Last Hope, Safe Haven Inc. are working hard every day to avoid any of our 
beloved GSDs ending up in the gas chambers that are strewn across this country. 
 The facilities that masquerade as "shelters" are neither sheltering, nor 
humane. Stokes county in NC actually utilizes a dump truck that is retrofitted 
as a gas chamber. When all the dogs  that are placed  inside are  dead from 
inhaling the caustic gasses, they travel to a local land fill and empty their 
sad load like so much trash.
  I know these things are VERY hard to hear; but imagine YOUR GSD enduring his 
last few moments in this world in abject fear. Right now, we are FRANTICALLY 
searching for foster homes, spare crates or corners, extra kennel runs....so 
that no more of our beloved breed ends up in one of these chambers of horror. 
  The link below is a "tour" of North Carolina "shelters' and their gas 
chambers. Yes, it is brutally hard to watch...but for us to ignore the obvious, 
we are enabling them to continue the slaughter. Please write to your local 
politicians and let them hear your anger at their lack of concern. The life you 
save may be that of a GSD who was no longer wanted...
  This is the type of facility that Boone found himself in a week ago. He is 
resting happily now with Krista Hansen in Elizabethtown NC. He came to us at 53 
pounds...a huge male who was so weak with starvation that he was unable to even 
retract into his sheath. Because of YOUR donations, this boy has been given 
medical care and good food and has ALREADY gained over 5 pounds! He will be 
with Krista until he is ready for transport to a GSD rescue in the northeast. 
  I know we are all busy with the rush of the Season...presents to buy, friends 
to see, parties to attend. Please dont forget those who, without US...have NO 
hope of another Christmas. Keep them in your thoughts; if you have space and 
time to share, consider fostering an abandoned GSD. To give the gift of life at 
this time of year is the best gift of all! 
For those of you who have not gone to our website and watched the video, please 
take a moment to do so! Every dog in that video is now living a happily ever 
after due to all of you! They will never again know fear, cold or hunger! 
  Again, I am sorry if this video upsets anyone...but I HONESTLY feel that you 
need to see what we face EVERY DAY....
