A good photographer for German Shepherds is a jewel indeed!! The typical dog
photographer doesn't understand what most shepherd people want in their win
pictures. Several years ago we had a dog photographer take the pictures for
the Rocky Mtn Specialty. Patty and I got together with him and he took some of
the most wonderful pictures of our dogs up at Red Rocks in Colorado. In fact
one of them is the January cover of GV Cookie. We both have some beautiful head
shots of our girls. Anyway, we spent alot of time talking to him, explaining
what angles we wanted in our show pictures, showed him the ideal angles from
good Review ads, and when he took the pictures at our show he still was off,
wanted to get the head and face in too much instead of directly from the side
showing the profile. We had to physically move him several times as he was
angled too far forward on the dog for a good shot. Shepherd people who become
photographers do a wonderful job because they understand
what i
t is we want in our pictures. It happens alot with the all breed photos, they
are trying to get the dogs expression at the expense of losing the side
profile. Being an all breed photographer is almost like being a judge, you
need to know each breed and what we want to see in our photos! Each breed is
indeed different!
