Another EXCELLENT POINT!!! Take away the Futurities or make less Regions and
it will
only hurt our local Specialties who thrive occasionally by hosting a futurity.
Our Board needs to take a good long look at any decisions they make to even
consider
eliminating the Futurities. FIRST consideration...WHY?? It can make or break
some of our
Specialty Clubs and will certainly cut back on some who are at the National
because of the
Futurities!! Those who complain and want to get rid of them don't support
them anyway....

Pretty much sums it all up, very well said, as usual, and I could not agree
more!!!! I know I questioned the value with the double entries, your points
make a lot of sense, and it really certainly does not "hurt" the system.
I truly can't see how Futurity/Maturity's could cause losses to the PC, I would
have to see that in Black on white for sure. It certainly helps the Reg'l
Clubs, just look at the entries Austin had, biggest Specialty Shows I've
attended in quite some time.

I love this List.
What started out as "Futurity problems" has ended up to be judging problems.

Some won't ever go to a Futurity again because of what a judge did with their
dog
and some quit shows for the same reason.
All I can say is we have done a lot of winning and more than our share of
losing and all
done with me handling years ago, young kids handling for us, friends handling
for us AND
handlers showing our dogs. Losing did not make us quit and winning didn't
cause us to
show even more. I still love the Futurities and shows and spending time
around others
who love this Breed. It is our job to decide what Judge we trust and which
ones we will
not support. It's not a lot different than anything else in your life. Which
Mechanic...etc.
which Judge or show venue.
Regarding the Futurities. If we have a litter...we will support the
Futurities. You can call
them a Match if you want...but you gotta admit the "end results" are
definitely different!
We just call them the Futurities. <G>
* For those who think double entries hurt the Futurities...remember..this is an
entry for a Club
hosting the Futurity whether you show up or not. If someone "pulls" at one
Futurity...it would
STILL BE A NO-SHOW! At least they may show at another one?? What is the
problem??
* For those who think making LESS Regions will increase the
Futurities...remember less
Regions make a LOT longer drive and even MORE of a hardship on Exhibitors
who's promising
dog may not be in full coat or as mature as they want...so you even have MORE
no-shows??
* Someone explain how getting rid of Futurities will help the Parent Club and
Exhibitors who do
support the Futurities and looks forward to seeing the Futurity finalists at
the National every year.
People...it is the FUTURITY FINALISTS that bring many of us in early to the
National every year.
Often having one is the only reason we even GO to some Nationals!! IMO.
* Someone please explain how we expect the Futurities to maintain the numbers
they started with
when we have Specialty Clubs failing, losing Breeders and Exhibitors every
year? Show entries
in ALL venues is going down? Should we eliminate Clubs with less
members...WHY do we
always decide it should be made more DIFFICULT...especially by those who do
not support them?
* Someone please explain how Reserve Futurity winners are hurting the Futurity
entries....?
The one thing we can easily do is just offer first place Plaques. That would
help expenses and
sheer WEIGHT of shipping for both the Parent Club and the hosting Club
Read Linda Bankhead's post this morning. Do we berate everything about
Futurities and shows
or do we try really hard to support them with quality animals? When the
shows fail...the Breed
as we know it will fail....IMO
