No it doesn't make you a whiner :o)
But my advice first and foremost is don't rely on the people in the breed 
for your fun, rely on your dogs and puppies for that..........then as you 
make friends in the breed cherish them and have a great time.........but let 
them be your second thought and not the glue that keeps you in this breed 
and sport.
1) dogs first
2) people second
does this make sense ??? It's only my advice everyone may say uh what ?? but 
it's the way i have handled my hobby...........
