[ SHOWGSD-L ] Panting to vote...

Well, let's think about this voting thing a moment.
How to vote?
Which candidate?
Why?
We all appear very eager to vote this year.
I once was a bit of a "Purist" when I voted, usually that is, when I voted in
both local, state and national elections.
(Meaning I had to agree with a candidate on every single issue, "every jot and
tittle).
But when I did that, I had a really hard time finding someone for whom to
vote........because I couldn't find the perfect candidate who agreed with me
totally.
Many elections came and went without my vote.
"Jane", my husband would say, "aren't you going to vote this election?"
"Nope", I would answer. "Can't find a candidate who agrees with me on every
single issue. I am going up to the attic with my 12 gauge, my Book of Concord
and my Bible.............not voting this year."
"Jane, sweetheart", he would reply with patience, " there is no such candidate.
You don't always agree with me, your darling husband, all the time. If you
keep looking for the perfect candidate, soon you will be alone in the attic
with your 12 gauge shot gun, the Book of Concord, and your
Bible......................for a long time !!"
He was right.
I needed to agree with my husband most of the time and my Pastor in the pulpit
most of the time........
.......But my candidate for office?
Not possible.
"Jane", he would shout up to the attic stairs, "you need to come down and vote
for the most principled person who sees the issues the way you see them, at
least some of the time."
Yikes!
Now what ??!!
1. Because some of the candidates are really principled people who don't agree
with me.
2. Because some of the candidates I really like personally. They are good
company , but they don't agree with me most of the time.
3. Because some of the candidates who agree with me on issues don't always get
along well with me. They might not even like me.
4. Because some of the candidates might not like my dogs.
5. Because some of the candidates love my dogs and don't agree with me on
anything else.
Now what ??
Vote for a candidate on the basis of one vote cast by an individual just one
time ?
What if I agree with the person on every issue but just that one thing?
Then what?
Yikes, again !!
Puzzling, hey?
I wonder what my sainted German grandmother would say?
