[ SHOWGSD-L ] PUPPY BUYERS

How many breeders here would sell a puppy to someone they just met the day
they met them? Or someone they only spoke to on the phone for an hour?
I had this very nice lady call in the morning yesterday, she found my website
online, her male had just passed away and only started looking for a puppy
like 24 hrs prior and she wanted a new male puppy. Very nice lady, has a young
daughter and husband... appeared to want to make sure the sire/dam had
certifications and that the breeder was reputable etc.... her husband had
asked if
they can come over that afternoon, and i said i would be available the next
day etc.. so they were all excited about coming. I suggested they take my Vet
references to reseach me, as they had no clue who i was, and I sent them their
questionaire to fill out to bring with them. I had a nice feeling about them
but i still always research puppy buyers by getting Vet references and we
have to talk a several times beforehand and also meet in person too etc....
This morning she emailed and said she was all set they brought home their new
puppy yesterday and i was confused at first thinking how i hadnt even come
close to deciding if they were appropriate homes and we even talked alot
yesterday about raising puppies and crate training etc... whether breeding
for 6
yrs or 60 yrs i really dont know if i would be able to sell a puppy to someone
i just met without researching them in detail.... is this being overly
cautious?
Would love to know how those who can do this... how do you know who you can
trust and who you cant by one meeting? Would love some helpful hints :)
