About 10 months ago, one of my dogs was hit on the nose by a large hawk.
This caused a kind of bad wound.

Shortly after the "attack," the dog refused to go outside. He's ball crazy,
but wouldn't even go out to play. We had to drag him out to do his
business.

He's a bit better now in that we can get him to go out to do his business
and he's playing fetch again, but he's always looking skyward -- expecting
another "dive bomber." Also, he's constantly looking up at the sky lights
when he's inside.

A couple months ago, he had a setback of sorts... We now have an abundance
of hawks living in the tall trees surrounding our house. On a sunny day,
you'll see these huge shadows as the hawks pass by overhead. Our dog is
seeing these shadows too and freaking out.

Now, we have to drag him out on sunny days. On cloudy days, he's nervous
but he'll go out on his own. The poor boy has lost weight due to the
stress, and we don't know what to do for him.

Have any of you guys had a dog who was traumatized in some way and couldn't
get past the incident? If so, how was the dog helped? Did a vet prescribe
something to help with the anxiety?

Thanks in advance.
