I guess it all comes down to the level you hope to achieve in the AKC breed
ring.
Having done both, I can assure you that to campaign specials in the breed
ring takes just as much effort as competing for the higher degrees in
performance, and, you need a structurally correct, pretty dog too, which is
rarely an accident.
