Actually we do still see this in some lines today.
These are dogs that have either tighter ligamentation or are over-muscled
either through too much distance work or genetically, esp as they mature...
that doesn't allow the freedom of motion required for proper movement. Not
to be confused with a poor front because of short upper arm and incorrect or
too steep lay back of shoulder. Dogs that are over loaded tend to look
"bunchy" , many without proper ratios of 8.5 to 10. You can see it
easily, and their movement is stilted, and often cumbersome or worse
"pitty
patting" because it's all they can do.
