Hey Bob...if it Aint broke, don't fix it!!!!!!!....or better yet, If It aint broke, don't break it!!!!.....FB ROBERT STEVENSON <trimblyn@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi Terry, If I remember correctly the entry in BC was down about 25% from what we usually draw in conformation. We expected that kind of a drop. I have checked on US Nationals and that seemed to be a normal range. The entry in obedience was down by about 70% - not many from the east (where the bulk of our membership is) went out to BC. Not sure if BC has the number of people it would take to organize and run the show again. We would need to hear from some of the members there. Not sure how much effect 9-11 had on the show. A lot of US exhibitors still came for the show. They drove instead of flying. Not sure of the current numbers on the percentage of US entries in Kitchener except that I know it is high. Very high in the classes and less so in the Specials. It is likely that at least half or more of our entry comes from the US. This doesn't factor into site selection at all. When we ran the first indoor show in Kitchener we only signed a contract for one year. At the general meeting that year our membership decided on signing contracts five years in length. That is what has been done since then. I would not be opposed to it moving around as long as the financial forecast for the show was ok, there were sufficient people to run the show, etc. As I said earlier there is an out clause in the contracts with the Kitchener Auditorium to allow for this. Bob. Terry Cochran wrote: That is good info. Now how did the entry in BC compare to the ones in Kitchener? Do you think that having every third year in BC would improve the involvement in your breed club in the West?: What percentage of your entry in from the USA? Is that a factor in site selection? Thanks in advance, Terry ROBERT STEVENSON wrote: Hi Terry, Since 1993 the Canadian National has been held at the same location in Kitchener (except for one show in British Columbia in 2001). The highest entry in Kitchener for conformation during that period was around 265, and the low about 200. The average entry for this period has been between 210 and 220 per year. The average entry for our Obedience Trials (4) during the same period is approximately 30 - 35 dogs with 105 - 110 entries in the four trials. As you can see the numbers have stayed around the same over the years. Bob Stevenson. Terry Cochran wrote: How has the entry at the Canadian national changed over the last 10 years? Increased, remain the same, or declined?
