GSDs are quite intelligent--use different collars for different venues.
Your dog will know the difference. Also, with my first dog, I taught the
command "Obie, let's go" for pulling out in the breed ring and "Obie heel"
for the obedience ring. Never a problem.

Hey all. I have a question, and I thought Id try and post it to the forum.
I just purchased my first puppy that I am wanting to show. Hes a big boy
now, and turns a year old next week. I didnt want to teach him to heel, so
he knows how to pull out in the ring. I have taken him through basic
obedience class so he knows how to sit, down, etc. The heel is the only
thing we didn't work on. Today I took him for a walk, and when we progressed
to a jog, he pulled out so hard, I fell and wiped out really bad. I don't
want to stop walking him, but goodness gracious he's gotten to strong for me
to handle on a basic walk. I've tried him on a choke, and he completely shut
down, when given a correction being seemingly terrified of the choke itself.
I've even tried I think its called a fur saver.. and toggle. Thanks for
reading I'm covered in scrapes. This sucks.
