Ok my sister in law has a Lab litter born July 4th. One of the puppies is a water puppy. She is having a lot of problems and I hoped some of you with more experience could help. Anyway this puppy's skin is still way to loose, so loose that it puddles around her when she lays down. She is of a normal weight and not at all small, the fluid that was present at birth is all gone but the skin seems to not be shrinking. Also she has a terrible bite, so badly undershot she had trouble nursing. And know her hips are in question. She is very loose as compared to the littermates, sits more often and is terribly cow hocked. The vet says (without x-rays) that she needs surgery. I told my sister in law to take her to a better vet about the hips. Having never dealt with the other problems I could only say I would turn to the list for advice. Obviously she will be going to a pet home only, and only if she will have a good quality of life. Any one else ever deal with a puppy with so many problems that went on to be a happy, healthy pet? The other puppies are very nice, with tremendous bone, healthy and doing well. Just this little girl got dealt a mess of problems. Please respond in private.
