I never watch American Idol, but, I see tonight that they are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Barry Gordy's founding of Motown! How nostalgic for me. I was 11. "Little Stevie Wonder", Diana Ross and the Supremes, and (not Motown) Leslie Gore sang at our local roller skating rink as I clumsily tried to roll around the floor upright!! Motown changed modern music, assisted in the Civil Rights movement, and gave us so many super stars!! Maybe it is just because I am getting old, but, I am wiping away tears as I hear the music of that era and my youth. So much is gone from there now. My school, St. Mary of Redford, just graduated it's last class a couple of years ago, and closed it's doors. Tiger Stadium is closed. J.L. Hudson's has been razed. Time passes on. It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to!! :-) Paula, 201 days and counting ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2008.
