I've seen 2 Welsh springers and a Fieldie with their tails intact and they were adorable. They grow a nice flag just like little setters. At least with the Sporting breeds, I believe that tail docking is mostly about tradition. Otherwise, ALL of them would be docked. I've had English setters who've bloodied their tails just from happily banging them against stuff day and night, so I know what I'm talking about. A bloodied tail is a difficult problem to deal with when it happens. Even so, it still wouldn't get me to cut off my dogs' tails to prevent it. :/ All the above said, I prefer to have the freedom of choice whether or not to dock a dog or do any other medical procedure. I don't need no stinkin' politician telling me what is best for me and my family members... dogs included! And that is exactly the point of why this is NOT such a happy day for Scottish dogs. -- Karen C.
