It has been my experience (40 years) that when and if I had a long coat in the litter, invariably they were the best one's overall except for the coat factor. To this day I have often thought that there were a some of them I should have kept. I didn't, but they were usually the best (overall) in the litter with the exception of the coat factor. I am not sure if it is because of the communication we have now, but we seem to be more aware of the number of dogs who do or do not carry the coat factor. Hindsight, coulda, shoulda, woulda.
