They are a separate Breed in Registries around the World.
Think about it....if they were a separate Breed...those that love
them and also like the Standard colors could have two different
dogs to show the same day .....they could also have both their
own dogs meet in the Group. <G> I do NOT see the down side.
Seems better than a DQ or a serious fault defining your dog??
There are more than a FEW DQ's that share the same DNA as GSD's.
The "history" is that they were never a preferable choice....ever.
It's that way in quite a few Breeds.
We're the only Breed playing out this Standard fault for over 50 years.

I don't know, the reason I would oppose it is because they have shared
pedigrees, registrations, DNA, and history and were initially a part of the
foundation stock in the formation of the gsd breed. Besides I was naive
enough
to believe everything I was told about them being defective, mutants and
needed to be euthanized. I should have done the research instead of taking
everything I was told by "experts" at face value. I need more Missouri in
my DNA, I didn't ask "show me" enough.
Now I am certain they are same dogs that I have in my back yard and related
to the ones I've been showing for 30 years.
I see separation as a loss for both sides.
