I live in Bloomington, Illinois. Right in the middle of Illinois. There is a
tractor supply here in town . Will go check out the 4 health. Rather buy
something here then drive an hour to pet smart.
The last litter started out beautiful, but were very extreme with long long
hocks. My Best friend took the pick bitch and I sold a pet male. Another male
went here in town. He died of toxic gut at 11 months. When i told the stud dog
owner. The response was well that sometimes happen(not to my dogs it doesn't).
So i ended up keeping 3 they were so extreme and locked in the hocks no way
would i place the. Around age 4 the bitch's rear hocks started swelling up. Did
blood work and many many test. Nothing showed up. Had her on antibiotics. And
anti inflamitories . Seemed like for ever. The swelling got worse and she was
going down fast .next step would have been to the university and i could not
handle that as my husband was going thru cancer treatment. So she was put
down.about a year later a brother had the same systems and went down. My 3rd
one developed DM like symptoms. ( never in 35 yrs have i had it). Finally had
to. Put him down. The pick bitch my friend had also. Developed DM like system
at the same age finally put down. No we did not autopsy them to see for sure it
was DM. So 5 out of 6 died or were put down by 7 yrs.my dogs live to 12-14 yrs.
this was a nightmare.
I love the cardigans . They are the right dog for me at my age. We do obedience
and i show them in conformation myself.Finished my male my self and my girl is
almost done. I have dna'd her for about everything including DM and she is
clean for all.plus ofa'd hips and elbows Have not made up my mind if i will
breed her but am leaning that way . If I can find a male that is also clean in
health. I realize dna is not perfect but it is the best we have at this time
