My personal opinion is that for our purposes, we should consider sites within a
"reasonable" drive within the designated region. That definition is where the
problem may reside. Again, personally, I would define a reasonable drive as
easily accessible within a day.

We don't want our Nationals located at extremities of our country. So, what is
easily accessible for the Northeast? I would say anywhere from New York,
Pennsylvania and even Ohio. Most if not all of the Northeast could get to
those areas fairly easily. If we start thinking about LITERAL definitions and
say it MUST be located in a Northeast or New England state, then we are getting
more to an extremity, which does not benefit the club or the majority of the
membership.
Same goes for a Southeastern location. We shouldn't consider south Florida
(although I would go to Miami for a National anyday!)
Now West is a little tougher because most cities & sites seem to be located on
the coast or near it. So it's either on the coast or in an area that is not
really reasonable for many members at all. So, maybe that is an exception to
have it on the west coast every 3-5 years.

I think that it is really important to keep the National rotating to different
areas so that we can expose our great event to newcomers in different areas.
I think that Joan has done a phenomenal job of identifying some fantastic
possibilities for us to consider and I urge the Board to committ to looking at
each of them.

Well, neither one is in New England which is how I define northeast.
Buffalo, NY is 625 miles from my home in the Maine - mostly due west. Philly
is a
bit closer, but certainly in a mid-Atlantic state, not part of the northeast.
I've never seen a national in the northeast and I've been going to
nationals since the early 80's.

If you define northeast as per futurity regions it includes Maine, Vermont,
Massachusetts, New York, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and
Connecticut......Pennsylvania doesn't qualify. No arguments though, I would
love to come up that
way if the judges are right!
