I agree we shouldn't have the Nationals in Reno. Years ago when Sacramento was
a hub of sorts I put together an application to hold the Nationals in Reno. It
didn't work out for what ever reason. It is a FABULOUS spot. We have
EVERYTHING including herding and tracking areas, a club that would put on
Rally, obedience, Barn Hunt...... We just don't have a way for everyone to get
here with a dog now days!
I'm a little put back by your comment about us not having our shows in Reno.
The reason being that for years I did the shows all by myself about 7 or 8
years of it. I was tired. We held majors most of the time. I decided I
needed help and decided with the help of the Sacramento club that it would be
more convienient for all who came to our shows. It is the same people most of
the time from California. It is a FABULOUS show and ends up costing everyone
LESS with just a couple of hotel days instead of a trip over the hill and even
more hotel days.
We have new folks now and what a great group we have! We could bring it back
here if you would like to spend some more money :)

There were MANY locations mentioned at the board
meeting. Do you know all of them? No - I am
certain nobody does. Literally the conversation about
Reno was a few mins and Gail was asked to research.
That is all. For the life of me I don't get the
drama surrounding that. I will certainly call out the
Board on items I feel need addressed, but this just is not
one of them and is a waste of our time and energy to be
"up in arms". I can appreciate several
people who have knowledge about Reno and any difficulties
and getting the information to Gail to add to her research,
but other than doing that - anything else is just grumbling
and not necessary. The Board, nor Gail, is out to get
a site that isn't easy to get to or set us up for
disaster.

As far as Reno and
West Coast Sites - The Board and Gail are doing their
due diligence and researching sites. Nobody has
determined Reno as even a viable site, so all the hoopla is
a bit premature. It was mentioned at the board
meeting that there was a nice event center there. The
board told Gail "Hey - research it and see what you
find out. If it looks possible, go do a site
visit" THAT IS ALL THAT WAS SAID ABOUT
RENO. So, calm yourselves.. geesh.

It actually brings down entries and revenue for the system.
It was an experiment that failed.
Also having a breeder judge in their own area brings down
entries - they need to judge where they
do not breed and sell their puppies to increase
entries. Clubs need to think of this when
they select their judges.
It is almost impossible to fly a dog anywhere these
days. Airlines change the plane sizes daily.
I dan take the same flight on Friday one week and Friday the
next week and have a totally
different sized plane.
Your Board is trying to find a west coast site that is
affordable - works for the club.
Gail is working her butt off and these negative comments are
not helpful. She will be taking a crate
to Reno. Thank you Gail for your hard work. Very
few people wotrk as hard as she does.
NO SITE is going to be perfect for everyone.
And sites are still available for 2017 and are being
researched
