I want to thank everyone for there posts. I have recently been lucky enough to meet some of the most influential breeders and handlers that have been very helpful. Although blunt at times it's what you need to hear and learn from what they have to say. Not always easy. I love showing my dogs and for the most part enjoy going to the shows. It's getting better and better each time. At each new show i try to introduce myself to someone new and hopefully make a new friend that enjoys what we are all there for. Showing off are pride and joys. My point to all this was just being kind to someone new. My heart has gone out to several people I've recently seen at shows that were new and really could have used a friend or some sort of guidance on some level. Not one person went up to them and said (for example) can i show you how to stack alittle differently or your dog was pacing do this and it may help. Maybe they had been guided wrong like i was. Everyone at these shows just stood back and made remarks that were not to kind. I remember my first show four years ago. I had been going to classes here at home getting myself started. No one in my area shows Shepherds so it was just me. Took my girl in the ring my first show and all went well until the judge came up and asked why i had stacked my dog with the wrong leg forward. Told him this is how i was taught. He was very kind and didn't make a big deal out of it but it was very embarrassing. Took awhile to reverse that habit. This wasn't the only thing i had been taught wrong but have learned alot since and quickly. Still have alot to learn and always willing. Not sure i'll ever get the double handling down but we try. Anyway i'll still offer my hand of friendship if someone needs the help. If they don't listen then it is what it is and i know i'am not one of those on the side lines thinking i'am better and forgot how i got started. Thanks to all your comments and too many Thanks to those that have helped me and given advice on past and upcoming shows i hope you know who you are. Roxann P.S. Flora was the only registered dog out of her litter and paved the way for the dogs we show today. Two of her off spring were shipped to the U.S. for stud. Can't recall there names off hand. Keeping her lines going. Hope i remembered this correctly. If not i'am sure you'll let me know. ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2010.
