I am not a newcomer. It's wonderful when new people feel welcomed into the dog show world. It is a good thing to talk to these new people. What really kinda troubles me is when show people, while being polite, go into a frenzy when the new person wants to pet the dog. "OH No, they have just been groomed!" I think that would be such a put off. One of my best memories at a dog show. A young couple wanted to pet my dog that was groomed and ready to go into the ring. I said sure and answered a few questions. I turned for a moment to speak to the handler and as I turned back I found the three of them rolling on the ground. There was nothing we needed to hide with grooming so we brushed her off quickly. She went BOB from the classes. That was a good thing but the really neat thing is that I did not have to sell the breed or dog shows to these people, the dog did it for me.
