PetSmart carries doggie Seatbelts , all sizes. to lock the dogs into the
reg. Seatbelts !
And you cannot prevent some idiot from pulling out in front of you. I had
one of my dogs come flying from the back of the mini van, through the front
seats, head first into the dash. That dog could have broken her neck,
literally. Sometimes you have no warning/response time nor does the dog
when an accident happens. I always use crates now when traveling for the
same reason I wear my seatbelt. It could save you or the dogs' lives.
There is a video also on YouTube showing what happens to your uncrated and
crated animals during a crash. It's not pleasant to watch even though they
use doggie dummies, but it is an eye opener!

I do not crate, as I have said in the past, they are to protect me when I am
driving as well as at home, but I train my dogs to travel in the van, and no
one ever impedes my driving at all!!! I won't have it. And when I see
people with a dog in their lap, if I can, I tell them it is dangerous.
