Most experienced breeders and owners agree with you, Paulette.
Even with dogs loose and crate doors open, my dogs have always (for more
years than I want to admit to) headed for their crates when they want to
relax, to chew a bone, eat a cookie, or nap...
even my cats have always found sitting in an empty crate irresistible...and
I've had a couple who would pull the crate door shut after themselves!
Whenever I have a dog looking at me imploringly, with a dog cookie in its
jaws, bouncing around in front of its particular crate, I know what's
wrong...the cat's in there!
Nancy is wrong...but probably due to inexperience.
     Peggy
