----- Original Message ----- From: Terry Cochran To: marhaven@xxxxxxx ; We have added classes, and more dogs to the Fut & Mat. We could go to over lapping classes. That will make getting a handler interesting. The site rental starts as soon as we need to be set up. It takes more than a day to get the show grounds ready to go. I doubt there would be much money saved. Carolyn tells us how you would schedule classes to shorten the national by 2 days. Terry ******************************************* This was so well covered last year....but I guess it's still on "the schedule" so we have to cover it again. <G> Start the show ( Futurities ) early Wed. morning, cut back on DAILY opening ceremonies. No one is there for them daily....most are still staggering around getting coffee and walking or grooming dogs....but we would be there to see it on early Wednesday morning. NIX the Conditional class..it's a filler and we don't need filler classes. Keep the show moving.......we're supposed to be smarter and more efficient, and yet we have less dogs and are taking more time. It doesn't equate. Even if we have more Futurity dogs AND the Conditional Class...entries still smaller. The Presentation classes are great and most enjoy them......but to take down the rings, drag everything out and literally "stop the show" for them and then take it all off and re set the rings and "restart" the shows while exhibitors scramble back to groom, exercise dogs, etc. is not a wise use of time. Schedule ALL the presentation classes during a certain time frame so those involved in them don't have to stop getting their competition dog ready to get the Presentation dogs ready, along with handlers and then run back and get their next class dog ready..........while the entire conformation part of the show is stopped, rings taken down and set up for the Presentation!!! Possibly scheduling the Presentation Classes on Friday night might bring in more local people to watch after a work day....also the Hero Dog award, etc. Those getting ready for a practice session with their Specials Friday can be there ready, watching and waiting. OR......just schedule them at the END of the conformation classes each day, and it will be easier for handlers & owners to focus on their dogs getting ready for that, and they have already been in their competition for that day and can actually enjoy them also. Those excited about seeing the presentations can relax and watch them....... those that have a lot of dogs to care for and feed don't have to. If they are part of it.......at least their competition class is done or not interferred with and they can actually WATCH TOO!! ONCE again.........with the Futurity Finals being done on Tuesday night it forces many conformation people to come in on Monday. The Conformation dogs are sitting there from Monday through the following Sunday.......... LITERALLY.........this is the SINGLE EASIEST PROBLEM to solve with the National!! Go BACK to Wednesday for the beginning of Conformation. Not to mention the LESS EXPENSE of the extra day of renting the facilities, life of the sod, Committee workers, booth rental and set up, etc.........it's just TOO easy to solve!!!!
