You won't hear many complaints from those in the West for Denver.....especially
after the last few years of driving
to St. Louis.
No site is perfect and we definitely ALL realize that! But three or four
years in St. Louis is just not reasonable for a
good part of the membership.
Both sites probably should be considered for somewhat permanent rotations as
one seems more central for the West
and the other more Central for the East. No one expects the Board to beat
themselves up trying to please every single
member....and setting these up as semi permanent sites should help with the
work load and expense. ....but again you
have to expect complaints with the one site for years........ <G>
Yes the 'grounds are beautiful'..... the ring...NOT SO MUCH! Hopefully we
can get out of there for 2018 also.
What about two years in Denver to even it out a little................. <G>
Thank you so much for mentioning Patty Korsch as I know how much support and
knowledge she has for the site in
Denver and I don't think it could have been done so quickly and easily without
her!!
THANK YOU PATTY!!!!

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] National Sites
I wanted to write everyone regarding National Sites. A team of 4 people looked
into every site recommended by the membership; plus additional sites we were
aware of. That team consisted of our National Chair Gail Stiefferman, Lew
Bunch, Joan Fox, and myself. I admittedly handed off a good bit of the work
when it got down to needles in a hay stack!
Please understand that our National can't conflict with our friends in Canada.
Our window to hold a National is essentially October and November. Venues have
to accommodate many venues and events. Tracking, Herding, Obedience, Rally,
Agility, and Conformation. We need hotels that accept dogs, major airport hubs
that can take 500 crates, meeting and banquet facilities, climate controlled
buildings, affordable sod and show sites that are economically feasible.
It is also impossible to make everyone happy! The fact remains that The USA
and our membership is spread out to the very corners from Portland Maine to
Portland Oregon.
I just want everyone to know that I can say with confidence a huge effort was
put forth to find a show site for 2019 that would cater to The West Coast
membership. We know Denver is not ideal for everyone who lives West. However,
given all of the needs to hold an event, Denver was the best overall choice.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the members who helped during
this process. The location team really did work hard to do their best. The
members gave us some great possibilities, a few stars had to align and some
just did not work out.
I will also tell you that The entire BOD was 100% pushing to find a show site
towards The West. Lew worked very closely with Patty Korsch to check off the
missing boxes some of the other options could not meet.
Again, thank you to all the members for helping us.
Respectfully
Linda
