[ SHOWGSD-L ] National Site Location

This is in no way aimed at this years site or any person (s).  This is my 
opinion and thoughts:
It seems it would be easier on all persons if the Board would study, discuss, 
recommend/endorse a National Site for a set time such as 5 years.  There is a 
lot to be said about knowing the show site from year to year.  That way all the 
previous year is not spent dealing with this issue.  Although this is very 
important but look at all the time spent looking, the cost, the politics, the 
negative and sometimes positive negotiating for the spot.  Why not do a 5 year 
deal?  Then clubs could work together to do the work.  Run it like a business.  
Clubs could apply for the honor of "running the show" that year.  Maybe several 
clubs could "run the show".  We should be working smarter, not harder.
If there was a show site that was centrally located and a contract could be set 
for a 5 or ?? more years then maybe  the cost would be locked in for more 
affordability.  Members would always know how far and what they would drive 
through to get there.  Airports, hotels and restaurants would get use to 
servicing us and we will know what we have at our disposal.  It just seems like 
it might go smoother.  Like many have said, the Canadians have set the record 
for a national that is usually less stressful and people know what they need to 
bring, where they need to be, and how long it takes to get there.  I would hope 
that the current Board would really look into this.  There are some really 
important Legislative agenda's that we should be working on for the best 
interest of our dogs and the sport of dog showing and maybe if there was not so 
much time spent looking we could be working on these other issues.
