Unfortunately since Louisville isn't a main hub.....you have to get a
connecting flight
from Atlanta or SLC- Utah, Delta's main hubs...and I doubt the short flight to
Louisville will be a big aircraft.....at least from Atlanta.
Same with United....have to connect through Chicago or Denver main hubs.
American......have to connect through Dallas / Ft. Worth main hub.
Continental ( no excess baggage price )you have to connect through Houston main
hub.
Frontier and Northwest have to connect through Minneapolis main hub.....or
Denver.
Alaskan.....Seattle main hub ( I think )
Continental charges full price and you have to run the dog down through
Cargo..then
get yourself back up through the terminal..... with the dog needing a 2 hr.
time frame
ahead of flight and the terminal needing you 1 hr. or more...it's pretty close
timing.
The full price for the dog both ways makes one dog costing more than YOUR
flight!!!
( which is one of the problems with Beaumont........Continental IS the main
airline )
lt doesn't get better till we start SERIOUSLY looking at airline 'Main Hub'
locations
for sites.... La la la LA LA LA LA LA La la la la la...... Beautiful, lovely
sites do us
no good if we can't get there easily with dogs.....La la la la la LA LA LA
...same
old same old.......<G>......the connecting flights almost always have smaller
aircraft
on one jaunt......hence no big crates.
Truthfully I haven't taken the time to check into each airline for the
connecting flights
with a #500 crate for Kentucky......but it is something we ALL HAVE to do from
now on
before we consider any location .........starting with Beaumont.
Or.......we can just go with no dogs........

Same old, same old........ How far is that site from Chicago or
Atlanta??

A very long way....from Chicago around 500 miles (7+hrs driving) and
Atlanta
        around 360
(5 1/2 hrs).......I think something to remember comparing horses to
dogs
doesn't work. Horses are shipped on cargo planes...mega bucks. Not
quite
        feasible with dogs.
I liked Lexington other than freezing to death...climate control would
be a
must, but was a good spot with adequate hotels 1 exit away on the
interstate.
