I've never done that either. I have caller ID and an answering machine
right
in the telephone itself. It's so much easier. I've seen some calls that
actually
say "unknown name; unknown number" -- I would never answer that!
(Norma the secluded old former farm woman). Oh HONEST; we lived out
there in the boonies for THREE YEARS with NO PHONE AT ALL. Then
when we finally did get it - it was on an EIGHT PARTY LINE. I'll never
forget one call I got from a woman about buying a German Shepherd Dog.
She said she'd asked the telephone operator about the German Shepherd
lady out on the Greenwell Springs Road. The operator knew me - Ah life
in the good old timey lane! Norma no L

I didn't register on the no call registry.
I figured out a great solution. I just don't answer the phone.
At work, the girls ask who it is, and if it is someone I can't remember,
(which is almost everyone), I don't answer.
On my cell phone unless it is Tedi, I don't answer it.
I don't answer the phones after five at night, and I don't get home until
seven.
It works great. I never hear unsolicited phone calls. I also don't read
e-mail unless it comes from the List, or has GSD in the address.
