This is a proposed standard change.
The AKC has a comment period re proposed standard changes. They have
posted the (proposed) standard on their secretary's page FOR COMMENT per the
AKC
bylaws. Based on our comments the AKC will either allow the balloting of
the membership for the standard change (removal of the white DQ) to
proceed...or not.
Here, this is from the AKC:
Breed Standard Revision Procedures
A revision consists of any change, deletion, interpretation, or
clarification to a standard. Once
the Board of Directors has approved a standard there is a five year
moratorium on revisions.
Parent Club
A. Breed Standard Committee is formed to review and formulate revisions.
B. Notify staff of the American Kennel Club that the club is in the
process of reviewing the
standard.
C. Submit revisions to AKC staff for input while being developed. Staff
will present final
revisions to The Board of Directors for their comment. At this time the
proposed
revisions will be published on the Secretaryâs page of the AKC Gazette,
allowing 60 days
for comment.
D. Following publication, comments received and response to such comments
from the club
will be presented to the AKC Board for approval to ballot the membership.

The two issues that we just recently voted on was to leave the Performance
Victor/Victrix and the Alan Sandell Elite awards in their original form.
They board had changed for the past two years. The membership voted. It
is back the way it was since those awards were established.
We were not voting on a standard change regarding the whites. The
proposed change has been sent to AKC and if approved will then be put up to a
vote
of the membership for an up or down vote.
