Gail,
I know this is late in responding BUT...6 pups in 3 hours is real fast..Its
perfectly normal for a girl to take a break while the pups are getting
themselves into place. She may take a 2 or 3 hour break and get right back
at it. I would NOT give her oxy until 2 or 3 hours have passed and you want
to be sure she is not starting on her own. Oxytocin is VERY powerful and you
do not want to give it to a bitch already having contractions or you risk
rupturing her uterus. I truely have found that nearly every girl I have had
a litter from does take a break in the middle.
I hope this email finds all the pups safely on the ground and happily
nursing away...normally I would not be up so early but leaving in 15 mins to
take my dad for his surgery.
