More strong words came from Nebraska's Governor Friday in opposition of
the Humane Society of the United States. The governor stopped at Prairie
Loft in Hastings Friday as part of a state wide tour with the Department
of Agriculture in honor of Nebraska Ag Week.

After giving the official Ag week declaration, the governor spoke about
various challenges the ag industry is facing including what he calls an
attack from the Humane Society of the United States.

"If you come to Nebraska we're going to defeat you. But I'm going to go
one step further. Then I'm going to go all over America and I'm going to
tell every state how to beat this organization," said Heineman.

The issue has become a popular one recently and the Hastings Chamber of
Commerce said they are officially coming out against the HSUS as well.

"And we're encouraging other chambers throughout the state as well as
other organizations to get onboard to also fight their efforts to shut
down agriculture in the state of Nebraska," said Hastings Chamber
President Tom Hastings.

Senators Carlson and Utter, as well as representatives from the state
and local Farm Bureau, all attended the event.
