My assumption was that the infected bitch was being treated at the time of the breeding. I use Baytrill simply because it is the most effective . So, re treating is usually not required. I agree with you proceedure under ideal conditions...but, some people can only breed once a year, or the bitch is old, and it is dangerous to skip an old bitch due to the threat of pyometra.
