Oh COME ON people...entries at F/M aren't down because there are
observers! Entries are down because it's an EXPENSIVE match that
has taken on all
of the drama of a mini national including sending baby puppies to
"camp".

I think Kathy is right. The original concept of the futurity was for
it to be a breeders' showcase. It is an outrageously expensive
match. Entries are down due to the economy AND some breeders don't
want to play the "futurity game." That said, I must also say that I
LIKE the system, just wish it didn't cost so much. As most of you
know, I usually "buy" my show prospects and I will ALWAYS do what the
breeder wants, including the futurity.
