My bitch was entered in the Futurity and I was really looking forward to see
how she would do compared to those in her age group. However, she and my
handler got stuck in California together with several others and never made it
to Tucson that day. Such is life. Boy, would I have loved to have one of those
plaques.
She was entered at both Specialty shows the next two days and did perform to my
expectations, and then some. Thanks to JR Alcantara, and certainly not to my
"expert" double handling, she won the 12-18 class both days. This young girl
was sooo bald, she looked like a deer, but she moved her heart out. I am so
proud of her, and I am equally proud of JR who did such a great job with so
little help. I also want to thank her breeders, Carolyn and Frank Martello. who
created such an exciting dog.
My thanks also goes out to both Judges, Mary Gattone and Carlos Navarro, and
the wonderful people who supported her ringside.
The weather on Saturday was very windy, with gusts up to 50 mph, palm fronds
and branches coming down and thankfully no one was hurt. Sunday was perfect.
