Speaking of dog shows, I just witnessed four judges do a spectacular job.
It started with Sharon Newsom, who was so decisive and knew the best of
the best. She put up a spectacular dog that Kris and Frank Fasano brought
out. I don't think you could have asked for more, and she took The Famous
Linda Battistoni's bitch to Best of Breed, and finished her. Another
super-star. Sharon had just judges in China and Mexico and showed at Crufts.
Now,
that is a busy life.
Then we came to Saturday. Bob Ghegleri has a male that is young, but will
challenge anyone, and he went Reserve Winner's Dog. He was one of three
amazing males shown this weekend. As with the other three judges, Jerry
Guzman did a sterling job.
In the afternoon, Karen Hyak held up with another astounding job of
judging, and found a new young dog owned by Dick Jennings, that will blow away
the competition when he matures.
It was topped off by that young Canadian judge. He found the best and it
was clear he knew what was closed to the standard. Jack Kilgore does a job
in the ring, that makes me proud of our breed, and he put up the best to
the top.
When you see a combination of judges such as this, it amazes me how anyone
could not do it. But, it takes knowledge, courage, and ability. They all
showed that, and more.
Frank and Kris Frasano had a super-star dog and bitch, and it was great to
see them. Again, Carolyn and Frank were there, but it seemed there was no
time to talk. All the old regulars showed up, with two of the fantastic
Exxon puppies taking their classes in the Futurity/Maturity. we all missed
Tom and Vivian, and hope to see them back ring-side soon.
Besides the shows, Tedi took Ch. Kisses Sweater Than Wine to be bred to
Champion Asgard's Big Ben. That could be an interesting litter.
Now, to try to recover enough to drive to Sacramento next weekend, and
Arizona the next week. In the meantime, I might do some law stuff.
