Sounds like My Boss daughter. Only for her its the fridge, when I get the
baggie out with the rollover in it to give our 16 year old border terrier
her pills. Prism is up and sitting on the floor at the kitchen counter
waiting for her piece I cannot sneak that bag out no way! and she is
there!
I can go to the fridge for anything else and she does not get up, she knows
the sound of that baggie.
These are not stupid dogs!

I donot smoke inside my house, out of courtesey to my family. Everytime I
grab my cigarettes to head outside no matter where Kolby is in the house he
comes running whining that Mommy is going outside, he beats me to the door
and goes into the yard to roll in the grass while I smoke. He can be in a
dead sleep but the minute I grab those cigs, here he comes. It was soo funny
when he went off with a handler for the first time, she called me asking why
everytime she gets a cigarette out he crys and carries on, I had forgotten
to tell her that little bit of info.
The other thing he does is act like a 94lb cat wrapping himself around
peoples legs. It is funny except when my 90 year old Grandma is here,and he
tries to do that with her. We also cannot go past a water fountain without
him wanting to get a drink, that is really funny watching peoples
expressions to see a German Shepherd drinking out of a fountain. He also
knows what time the sprinklers go off and darts for the door to play in the
water like a little kid. He comes in soaking wet and rubs against me and
gives me that grin like look mom I'm wet, aren't you proud I took my own
bath.
My Rhini used to steal bread off the counter and unwrap it to help herself
to a little snack, she also stole pork chops(boneless of course) out of the
frig one night a 2 A.M., and learned how to open the pantry closet to help
herself to treats. She also hid things in the backyard to save for later if
she could not steal from the house. We have found not only bones, but
cheese, poptarts, a pack of gum, and my husband's box of samon, that I
brought him from last years national, still wrapped.
Oh the things they do to amuse themselves.
