The not for profit statement has always puzzled me. Living in Canada, my
national registery is the CKC, not for profit. =0D

In thinking about this mutt question... If AKC is doing it as a way to
increase profits, and if it doesn't workout.... another way would be to
change how they register pure bred dogs. They could introduce the CKC wa=
y..
(I don't think you are going to like it), by making the Breeder responsib=
le
for 1) litter registrations, 2) Identifications prior to leaving their
property with tattoo or microchips and, 3) pay for transfer of ownership =
and
4) pay for individual puppy or dog registration within 6 months of the s=
ale
Believe me.. It costs Canadian Breeders plenty. The only little
advantage we might get comes by paying for 1) club annual membership with
CKC ($50), and 2) getting those registrations submitted within CKC's set
time frame for a 20% discount. Well, there's always hope....=0D

And, if I'm not mistaken, CKC is also inviting non-purebreds into their
events.=0D
