[ SHOWGSD-L ] Missing Board Meetings

I have just got to comment about missing Board meetings. Let's take for
example, if, Margery missed 5 meetings in the past 4 years as I've seen
it posted,.that is not a lot, especially if she let someone know in
advance. I sure would like to know how many meetings other Board
members missed . Besides, there is no policy for this. If the new
Board feels this is a problem, then maybe they should put a policy
letter in place and let the Board members know in advance, but since
there wasn't any kind of policy in place, how can a member be removed
from the Board for missing meetings.
I sent an e-mail to the Committee Board slate of members asking some
questions, I think I have received answers back from 4. One e-mail sent
received back from a current Board member who is running for an Officer
position this time simply floored me. It started with, "Dear Elaine,
The sky is not falling. The Board has worked very hard to overcome
difficult hurdles this past year. Many of these matters could not be
discussed on open lists or individually." This is bull.obviously this
person doesn't take this or being a part of the board seriously.the sky
is falling in. This club has been through way too much crap this past
year, much if not all brought on by the sitting Board and Officers.
This person also went on to in my opinion bash another Officer.just got
to say, this person will not be getting my vote. This person also goes
on to say that it will be their hope to get a membership list started
this year where these issues can be discussed. Excuse me I remember a
member trying to get a list started for members only through the club
and I believe is was voted down by the Board. So they went on and
started it on their own. Our Board really needs to change its ways.
Hopefully some fresh blood on the board will change this type of
thinking.
When I didn't get a lot of answers from my e-mail sent to the Nominating
Committee slate of Board/Officer members, I went to GSD by Design and
read through the Bios of those running. One individual really impressed
me and they will definitely get my vote along with some others. I
really recommend all the members take the time to read those Bios and
ask the nominees questions, if they don't answer now, chances are we
don't want them sitting on our Board or we may just find ourselves in
the same situation over the next couple years that we are in now.
Thanks for listening and letting me vent. I just had to say something
after I received the e-mail from the person who is currently a Board
member and running for Officer this year.
