Jamie,

I think a breeder has the responsibility to protect the dog that they have
bred, to the best of their ability, for it's entire life. I guarantee EACH
dog.... show, breeding or companion for life... If for ANY reason a buyer no
longer wants the dog they purchased from me that dog can come HOME. I reserve
the right whether or not to return money.... if I don't want a dog to go back
into that situation then I return money. I don't want someone who is not
satisfied with my dog to keep him or her.

I provide each new owner with a pedigree, registration (if it is back from
AKC), a shot record, a worming record, and two days supply of food, as well as
where they can purchase the food the dog has been eating.

I require that the new owner can provide: a crate suitable for the dog.... a
dog house.... a shaded and covered run where the dog can stay when the owner
can not be with him/her... a fenced area where the dog can run. They must be
provided fresh water at LEAST twice daily (accessible to him/her 24/7) and
fed twice daily. They must promise me to feed a good brand of dog food....
and to provide veterinary care if the dog is sick or injured. I never deviate
from these requirements.

I never GUARANTEE a puppy to be a show dog.... if he/she doesn't turn out to
be a show dog bring him/her back and I will replace him/her with another
puppy I will not guarantee to be a show dog either... LOL As Christine
said....
if you want a show dog buy an adult.... or like the rest of us... be
prepared for about 1/2 (an optimistic number) of the show prospects to turn out
 to
be show dogs. (Also. like Christine I have never signed the BC)

My mentors, Fran and Joan Ford, have three puppies over 1 year old and they
are STILL trying to determine which one (if any) is the show dog..... Now if
Fran and Joan take a year to do that then I can't be expected to be 100% for
picking show dogs at 12 weeks.

A breeders best protection is to ASK the buyer up front what he or she
expects if the dog doesn't turn out. My had some people come to look at show
prospects a short time ago.... They were very knowledgeable... picked the
best
puppy.....and knew exactly what they expected.... I didn't think that my puppy
would grow up to be what they wanted so I didn't sell them the puppy even
though I could have......My wife is still mad about that one... LOL
