You know Norma never did Mike or I think about the water bottle. He seems
to do all his communicating by lifting his leg and crashing it into us.
Then for good measure drag the nails down the leg. We have lived with this
from the beginning. We have turned around, but he's there to greet us when
we do that too...haha...We thought this has to be a GS thing...my other dog
never does it. Lab..... Why I didn't think of the water bottle is beyond
me. Another Xmas Present for me today:) Also, we can be sitting, s tanding,
whatever..he always does it. Use to be cute..now it hurts too
much....Thanks for the suggestion, Duh!! Never thought to do that. Diane

Apparently he does this while you folks are - sitting down --
Where you sit, at each place, have a squirt bottle handy and as
he paws the person's leg, they should immediately squirt in his face,
sneaky-like and say NO -- if he's been trained concerning that word like so
many are. Or, quickly do a kicking somewhere with the other foot so he'll
be off balance and be quck with the movement. You say "We have lived
with this for years" so, it'll take a bit of time I imagine to be
successful.

I have a good question to all you wonderful german shepherd parents..My GS
has one of the worst habits, He beats us up everyday with his paw. Just
hits us constantly..drags it across the legs, over and over again. We've
tried everything. I know he is communicating some how.I ask out??? He runs
to the door and goes out. Comes in and starts beating us up with his paw
again. Does anyone have a clue why he is doing this..We have lived with
this for years.but the pain in the legs is getting ridiculous haha..I made
the mistake of teaching him to shake.he is carrying this to far as he shakes
at our body..over and over again...Diane
