[ SHOWGSD-L ] Mediocre/Mediocrity KINDA LONG

Very well said Christine....ALL CHAMPIONS ARE NOT EQUAL..except
for the fact that they have all managed to garner the 15 points necessary to
be called CHAMPION....
I have been reading and following all of these posts and have decided to
add my nickles worth....and its MHO only...
My first show bitch was sired by one of the top stud dogs around ( 1986) at
the time in my area....at 9 months she was pre limbed and found to be
severly
dysplastic...by default I ended up with her brother..who happened to CHOSE
US...He was a HANDSOME boy with a flawless and I do mean flawless
temperment and character. The stud dog owner...said "You should show him...
I need to get majors for MY DOG"S ROM"...Well show him we did and yes
he finished with 15 points 2 majors and a total of 6 judges..Not bad you
might
say..IF all my catalogs and records were not in storage I would be able to
tell
you HOW MANY shows he was in..IT WAS A LOT...Was HE WORTHY?
NOT according to the stud dog owner...as soon as he got his FIRST MAJOR
she begged me to quit showing him as she felt HE was an embarrassment to
the "STUD DOG"...Would "I" show a dog of his quality again? NEVER...HE
was a GREAT DOG but he was NOT A GREAT CHAMPION..he too did
not OFA and he died at 6 1/2 from brain cancer..
Second CHAMPION (also purchased) finished with 19 points with a total of
9 judges...he was a total spook....BUT you have to FINISH him for his dam's
ROM....HE WAS TRAINED...he showed..he finished...would I do it again?
NEVER....He also was shown A LOT...His spleen torsioned at 6..we saved
him....He died at 9 from DM which his sire also died from...Glad I never
incorporated HIS GENES into my breeding program...
My next CHAMPION was an AUSSIE who finished being shown in four
shows with 3 5 point majors....
The next THREE CHAMPIONS I finished all finished with 4 majors under
SPECIALTY JUDGES....
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE ???? IMHO I believe there is... I am just a small
time breeder with NOT a lot of money to be out showing every single week
end.
While I do RESPECT everyones right to their opinions I personally feel there
ARE CHAMPIONS out there that are NOT WORTHY and I finished 2 of
them.....FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS............
