Now this is really food for THOUGHT -- I have had my dogs do so many things
thru the years and I KNOW a GSD can and will
do it all, it's just a matter of so many things but remember, only what the
owner wants and needs is what is asked of them. I really
would dearly love to attend the biggy over there. However, if I can
possibly do it at my 79 yr. self in 2013, I will work, pay, donate
any and or what ever to be sure our Lexington, Ky. actions are superb!
I would love to see this merger take place. What do we
need to do???? The goals are the same, the dogs are the same, the people
are ===== hopefully ==== the same == Oh, well, you
can't have it all I guess --- or maybe we CAN. Work on it folks!!

But that led to my next thought. AKC now has recognized the Working
trials, we've been showcasing them at the National. Isn't it time
that the WDA simply merged into GSDCA? I believe, and could be wrong,
that the reason that they are separate is because AKC would NOT
recognize their sport. Or is it because AKC isn't recognized in the
World Union? (so confusing:-)

There was a time (at least 20 years ago) that in order to join the WDA you
had to be a member of the GSDCA, however when AKC decided that "bite-work"
was not politically correct, the WDA was cut loose. Now that entries are
down in obedience and AKC has seen the growth in the "working dog" ring,
they have found it to be a new source of income. I believe there are only 5
breeds that have been allowed into the WDS at this time.
