I have seen both Malinois and German Shepherds working as police dogs â in
Europe, they tend to use the Mals more these days. All of the ones that Iâve
seen, both in police competitions and in demos â out beautifully. The
choice is strictly âpersonal choiceâ of the departments who use them. The
RCMP here in Canada are still producing quality GSDâs in their breeding
programs for their work. An âoutâ is a training issue, not a breed issue

not even if youâre cross breeding them.

Are you saying that is the problem when they cross a Malinois with a
German Shepherd Dog??
That surprises me as it sounds like the GSD 'added' is to blame?
I always thought that was the only real Malinois problem??

My understanding is they did do that but have now gone back to German
Shepherds as have most police departments. Malinois were too unpredictable
and sharp but they liked the smaller size and agilty. They proved to be more
subject to injury also. Hence.the crosses.
They soon found they could not predict what they would guess in the crosses.
Oh gosh, welcome to dog breeding. LOL
That show is old now maybe 12 years. I am sure someone will correct me if
that is wrong. LOL
