That's a good way to look at it. I wouldn't care so much if I wasn't being
prompted to finish my dog. Personally I just as well herd with him, but "they"
want him finished, and "they" want it now, so I will do my best.
As Mrs. Bennett says "It's all so very vexing."

So true. It's just sad to see shows like Canfield go so low. I noticed that

It is a cycle. Be pleased you are coming in at the beginning. The shows in
the
beginning of dog showing started out small with only the rich able to show.
Then they grew, got cheaper and everyone was in the game, even the little
people. Now it is smaller again, and very expensive.

It is just as hard to finish a dog today as it always was. I have a super
bitch
with 14 points and both majors, and she is in the whelping box with 10 two
weeks old puppies. She may or may not finish, but I sure tried. We used to
have classes of 30, but 24 of them would probably never get points. Now we
have
a class of four, and they are all champion quality.

It will come back. Those just getting into the sport will some day talk about
the days when you could go to a show, and still be home in time for a pleasant
afternoon. And bitch about the big entries and how many dogs they now have to
beat to get a point. The terrible days of today are but the good old days of
yesterday in the future.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
