Stress can cause immuno-suppresion..it is not auto-immune..immno suppression can be temporary when a person is ill..at the time of the illness they may be immno suppressed..it does not mean they will be that way forever..so don't want to confuse the two Auto-immune does exist..it is inherited and is more of a problem in our breed than we would like to admit to. Face it..some dogs are not healthy..some dogs are always unthrifty..limping for no reason..poor appetites..lack of weight can..repeated failures to conceive..or they just seem to be lack luster..often these "little" symptoms are precursors to a bigger problem that will appear a few years down the road..However..no matter what the cause..if a dog or person is immno suppressed..it becomes susceptible to many things that normally would not pose a health problem...I have never heard of one particular dog affecting 20 bitches I am not saying it isn't true..I am just saying I have never heard of it..the twenty bitches may have cultured positive...but I don't know how the cultures were done..they could have been in some cases cross contaminated.....and I don't know if perhaps in some of the bitches the presence of a small number of mycoplsama may have been normal..and I also don't know how many failed to ever conceive from that point on. Mycoplsama without symptoms..really to me means nothing..the main symptom being failure to conceive after several breeding attempts. I live in an area that has quite a few hound breeders..they don't culture..their dogs are prolific..fertile and vigorous...they are probably too "ignorant" to know about testing..or "treating and breeding"..therefore in their"ignorance" they have managed to avoid some of the pitfalls we now find ourselves in...sometimes ignorance is bliss C.Grainger > [Original Message] > From: Carolyn <marhaven@xxxxxxx> > To: <hckryhillgsd@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>; <Doctrcorgi@xxxxxxx>; showgsd-l <showgsd-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Date: 12/27/2004 11:57:20 AM > Subject: Re: MYCOPLASMA, AGAIN > > > > > > We have never tested for mycoplasma..and probably won't..I am confused..why > > does everyone one act like this is something new?
