HF2469/SF2292- Dog and Cat breeder's Act - dead. Failed to be heard in
committee in either house.
HF3245- Ozment dangerous dog acts - task force/per se declaration of 5 breeds
as dangerous - dead. Returned to author.
Only under extraordinarily difficult circumstances can these bills be heard
in committee and passed during this session.
Since this is the end of the biennial session, in order for either bill to be
reconsidered in the next session, they cannot be carried over as they were
this session; they must be reintroduced.
HF2906 - Paymar's Dangerous Dog Act - passed by Finance committee and had
second reading in house on 3/19. Entered into the General Register. Is now
eligible for debate by the whole house and amendment and passage. Is not on
the
calendar of the day for Tuesday, 3/25.
SF2876 - Anderson's Dangerous Dog Act - passed by the Judiciary committee
with several minor amendments to language. Three substantive amendments were
made. First, they reduced the maximum waiting time for a hearing from 30 days
to
7. Second, they replaced the requirement of being found "not guilty" with
"not convicted". And third, they replaced the "reasonable adult" requirement
in
the provocation definition to "reasonable person", which ties in with current
law. The bill was then referred to the Senate floor with recommendation to
pass. It has not yet beenplaced on General orders.
