I have found the same thing in Miami. I am using STP and it is working to get
back most of what I lost. But it is the price of an additional gallon of gas,
about the cost of what I loose each tank, so my cost is still up overall, but I
feel better.

I started using Lucas Fuel additive and it bumped up my mileage 2 mpg
